Show Up for Justice, Show Up for Jamaal Webinar May 8, 2024 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM ET To advance racial justice in our federal government, we need justice-aligned candidates in office. Rep. Jamaal Bowman (NY) leads Congress on public education, racial justice, and climate. He and the Squad show up for working people, and they need us to show up for them. In 2023, Rep. Bowman joined other members of the Squad in speaking out against Israel’s genocide of Palestinians and calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. In retaliation, the right wing-aligned pro-Israel SuperPAC AIPAC pledge a historic $100 million to defeat them. AIPAC has already spent $600,000 against Rep. Bowman. To win on critical issues, like Palestinian liberation and workers’ rights, we must protect Rep. Bowman’s seat. His district is overwhelmingly white, and it’s our responsibility to rally white people to support him and reject AIPAC’s attempts to buy this election. Join SURJ in conversation with Rep. In our one-hour gatherings we make calls, sign petitions, send emails, and take online action to close jails, defund police, invest in communities, protect Indigenous rights to land and water, and more! You?ll receive training and support throughout the session as well as a community of fellow SURJ members to take action with! All are welcome whether your a long-time SURJ member or are just hearing about SURJ for the first time!
